Construction of 13 private houses in Nova Basan’ village, Chernihiv oblast’

In the Chernihiv region, particularly in the Novobasanska community, many houses were heavily damaged due to military actions, with some being completely destroyed. Roofs, walls, windows were cracked or had holes after shelling. The cold winter and spring weather only exacerbated the situation, making it even harder for families to endure the cold.

Upon the de-occupation of the community, the team from the “District #1” charitable fund urgently visited this settlement and, after meeting with the local residents, decided to urgently assist in constructing new houses for families who had lost their homes in the war. As a result, we built 13 new frame houses for 32 local residents.

Recognizing the importance of comfortable living spaces for all families, the fund designed larger homes to accommodate families needing more space. This led to the construction of 4 three-bedroom houses, each with 75 square meters of living space and a combined kitchen-living area, and 9 two-bedroom houses, each with 60 square meters of living space and a combined kitchen-living area.

New homes were fully furnished, ensuring they were fully ready for living. Moreover, they were equipped with an autonomous heating system using a wood-burning stove. This not only provides residents with their own resources for comfortable living but also makes them resilient and independent in situations with limited or damaged infrastructure. In power outages, for example, the stove serves as both a cooking facility and a heating source.

The charitable fund “Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe” served as the financial partner for the construction of these 13 houses.
