Restoration and renewal: reviving “Kazka” kindergarten in Hostomel

The Community of Hostomel reached out to the charitable fund “District #1,” to help restore the “Kazka” kindergarten, which suffered extensive damage due to destructive russian aggression. The shrapnel shattered the walls, the roof turned into a sieve, constantly leaking water. The immediate repairs became extremely important for the children to return to a save and peaceful kindergarten as soon as possible.

The charitable fund “District #1,” with support from the charitable fund “IsraAID Germany” has successfully finished the reconstruction project of “Kazka” kindergarten in the Gorenka village on Sadova 20 street of Hostomel community. After a committed work of the volunteer’s team, we started by cleaning the entire area of  fragments and debris and the building was prepared for further reconstruction. The team actively helped with furniture transport during and after restoration.

The main works included the complete dismantling of the old damaged roof and roofing system. A new roof, covering an area of 810 m², was constructed from metal tiles, ensuring maximum durability and weather protection. Additionally, there was a major overhaul of the facade, including insulation and the installation of new entrance doors. Inside the kindergarten, the team carried out electrical updates, repaired and painted the walls, restored the ceiling and floor, and installed 20 new internal doors. These measures allowed for the complete restoration of the “Kazka” kindergarten and brought closer the moment when 80 children will again be learning within its walls.
