Restoration of Mostyshchenska Branch of Lyceum No. 1
In the summer of 2022, the charitable foundation “District #1” received a request from the Hostomel community for assistance in restoring the Mostyshchenska branch of Lyceum No. 1.
The lyceum building had suffered extensive damage due to russian military aggression, including a direct hit by a missile in the central part of the school. The roof of the building was completely destroyed, all windows were blown out, and the walls, floors, and facade of the school were damaged.
Thus, the restoration of the Mostyshchenska branch of Lyceum No. 1 became a priority for us, as education is the key to the future of every community, especially in such difficult times.
District #1 started reconstruction works from enabling the community and gathering volunteers for dismantling the remnants of the old roof and preparing the school building for repair works.
Next, the team of “District #1” was able to construct a completely new roof for the lyceum.
The funding for this crucial part of the project was secured through the funds raised during the “Block Party” event organized by the foundation. This event was a key moment in garnering resources and community support. Additionally, in collaboration with Polish philanthropists from BRDA, we managed to obtain and install 26 new windows, thereby not only restoring the functionality of the school but also ensuring comfort for the students and teachers.
Once restored, the lyceum has opened its doors to 1,800+ students and serves as a place of education and development for the youth of the Hostomel community.
