10 modern houses by District #1 and Bacardi-Martini Ukraine for large displaced families

The construction of a residential neighborhood for families who lost their homes due to the war became one of the most significant achievements of the District #1 Charity Foundation. This project marked a new chapter in our work, as, for the first time, the primary donor supporting the reconstruction was the Ukrainian private sector—Bacardi-Martini Ukraine. This partnership demonstrated a powerful example of how responsible businesses can invest in Ukraine’s long-term recovery by creating new opportunities for people.

To implement this initiative, our team purchased a land plot in the village of Hermanivka, Kyiv region, for the first time independently. This allowed us to carefully select the location, conduct all the necessary geological and urban planning assessments, and ensure the reliability of the future homes.

Thanks to our joint efforts, 10 modern, energy-efficient detached houses were built in the village. Each home features a functional layout, a private garden plot, and is fully designed to provide comfortable living conditions for families with children.

In addition to the construction itself, we placed a strong emphasis on the social integration of future residents. In cooperation with the local employment center, our Foundation supported families in finding employment opportunities based on their professional experience, helping them secure jobs and become part of a welcoming local community.

As of the beginning of 2026, the project has been fully completed, and all 10 houses are already occupied. A total of 57 people, including 30 children, have received a new home and a safe place to rebuild their lives. These are internally displaced families who were forced to leave their homes in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The Hermanivka project has demonstrated that the synergy between civil society, local communities, and responsible businesses can create long-term solutions that rebuild not only homes, but also people’s lives.
