A new frame house has been built and the site landscaping has been completed
As a result of the full-scale invasion launched by the Russian Federation, more than 3,300 buildings were damaged in the city of Irpin alone, including more than 3,100 residential buildings.
But there was one family whose story struck us particularly deeply. Ms Svitlana’s house was hit by an enemy missile, causing destruction, a fire and the death of her brother. This was a double ordeal for her family.
After Irpin was liberated, our volunteers helped her clear the rubble and mount the roof of the summer kitchen, where her family could live until winter. However, we realised that this was a temporary solution and we needed to look for other ways. In less than a year, we had this opportunity.
In May 2023, our District #1 team, with the participation and funding of Bacardi-Martini Ukraine, began construction of a new house for Svitlana, and in 3 months she moved with her family into their new home.
The new house, built using frame technology, meets modern energy efficiency requirements, is equipped with autonomous heating systems and is fully furnished, which covers 100% of the needs of its new residents.
During a joint clean-up day with Bacardi-Martini Ukraine employees, a garden with hydrangeas, roses, perennials, fruit trees, grapes, etc. was planted for Svitlana.
This project laid the foundations for the global reconstruction of the country together with our partner Bacardi-Martini Ukraine, who are also funding another large project to build a microsettlement for IDPs in the Kyiv region.
